Little known that Hong Kong has played a part in Star Dealer and Curator Jeffrey Deitch’s success story. Here in Art Basel Hong Kong 2016, he told us the epic story of building the legendary I Club with local collector Alfred Siu, inviting Andy Warhol to China for the first time and which led to an amazing creative journey. After telling us about his hobby and how (blue) ties complete his attire, he got stumped by an unexpected question by gallerist Massimo De Carlo.

Jeffrey Deitch has been involved with modern and contemporary art for more than forty years as an artist, writer, curator, dealer, and advisor. He opened his first gallery in Lenox, Massachusetts near Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, in 1972. He is now based in New York and is working on historical and contemporary exhibition projects.
