Louise Malcolm is a freelance art researcher, writer and editor. Conducted through ongoing discussions with artists, Louise writes about contemporary European and Southeast Asian art that is materially innovative and conceptually rigorous. From 2014–2018 she was employed by the University of Zurich to research the intersections between art, ecology and science. Louise is also currently researching and cataloguing collections of modern and contemporary Vietnamese art held in the west.
In 2018 Louise collaborated with Asia Society Switzerland and Hauser &amp; Wirth Zurich on an exhibition and talk about contemporary Vietnamese art, and organised two exhibitions of Vietnamese modern painting in collaboration with Asian Art in London. Since then, she has lectured on art, ecology and contemporary Southeast Asian art at institutions including the University of Zurich, the University of Linz and the University of Aarhus, Denmark. In January 2020 she participated on the panel “Southeast Asia Art Watch: Vietnam” at S.E.A Focus, in Singapore.
